On the occasion of the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Moroccan Association for Sahrawi Solidarity in Europe (AMSSE), settling in Belgium, an international conference was organized in Kortrijk, Belgium, gathering 500 persons coming from all the regions and cities of Belgium and Europe, in the presence of Sahrawi association executives residing in Europe, and in Morocco as well, members of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), deputies and Belgian politicians, journalists and the Ambassador of Morocco in Belgium and Luxembourg.
During this conference organized by the AMSSE, speakers emphasized the importance of ethnic, historical, cultural and social links uniting all Sahrawi tribes with the other tribes in the North or West of Morocco shading light on the real and promising perspectives of the conflict settlement based on the audacious Sahara autonomy plan, presented by Morocco during negotiations rounds under the UNO auspices.

Besides, this project is part of an outlined perspective for the building of a modern, democratic and liberal society, respecting not only the national identity but also the regional identities of its different components and concerned about granting the regions broad prerogatives in the management of their domestic affairs.
Thus, the Sahrawi populations are called to get self-managed, in the most democratic way, as part of the wide autonomy, endowed with executive, legislative and judicial bodies with broad and exclusive competencies. These relevant and innovating competencies represent a significant progress within the regionalization process of the country, launched by the Kingdom, with a special status for the Moroccan Sahara Region.
A status ensuring to the regional Administration and the elected representatives of the Region a number of competencies in the exclusive fields of  the local administration and jurisdiction of the Region in all economic, fiscal, social and cultural sectors, as well as in those relating to equipment, infrastructure and environment.
Participants seized this occasion to praise the Royal Initiative concerning the establishment of an Advisory Committee for Regionalization, in charge of thinking about the issue, conducting field studies and coaching the elaboration of the regionalization process.
